CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ENGINEER/SUPERVISOR (Indiana)
Bernardin, Lochmueller, & Associates currently has an opening for a Construction Project Engineer/Supervisor. This position will be responsible of overall on-site activities during construction of transportation infrastructure. Representative duties include: overseeing day-to-day construction issues and directing the activities of the team of inspectors; reviewing plans, specifications and construction methods with the contractor and providing supervision and administration of field work. Additional responsibilities will include resolution of all field issues; coordination of activities between the contractor, INDOT and stakeholders; providing necessary guidance and technical expertise to ensure that the project is constructed according to plans, within budgetary constraints, and in compliance with INDOT’s expectations. Additional duties include providing assistance in the development and monitoring of the scope and associated budget for the project.
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (Evansville, Indiana)The successful candidate must have knowledge and skill typically acquired through a civil engineering Baccalaureate degree program; related academic training; plus comparable work experience or comparable work experience alone may substitute for a Baccalaureate degree where appropriate. Knowledge of civil engineering theories, principal, methods and procedures used during construction of highways, bridges, and related structures. Eligibility to sit for the Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineers licensure Exam or individuals holding a registered professional engineers license are strongly desired. The position produces drawings in AutoCAD and or Micro station for projects pertaining to design plans for water treatment/distribution systems and wastewater treatment and collection systems. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering or equivalent plus 10 plus years experience. The position serves as a design team leader in the Structural Design department with responsible charge over the development of the work product in regards to design of new and rehabilitated highway bridges and other structures. Incumbent has charge of a group of engineers and technicians whose main focus is in the Bridge Design area. Incumbent may also serve as a design team member under the designated lead engineer on some of the larger and more complex projects. The position designs and guides structural engineering staff in the development of construction plans and specifications. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis preferred or equivalent plus 10 plus year’s experience. Candidate must also be a registered Professional Engineer.

Incumbent serves with a group of engineers, engineer designers and technicians whose focus is the preparation of plans and/or reports associated with vehicular and pedestrian transportation facilities. The Project Engineer has developed the skills and expertise required to manage staff in the production of work and interface with clients. The successful candidate must be a Registered Professional Engineer with at least ten years of highway design experience. Advanced working knowledge or willingness to develop an advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Micro Station, advanced working knowledge or willingness to develop an advanced working knowledge of hydraulic design software, knowledge of Estimator or equivalent cost estimating program, and advanced working knowledge of current INDOT and City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works standards, specifications, and procedures.

Bernardin, Lochmueller and Associates, Inc (BLA) currently has a position open in our Water/Wastewater Regulatory Compliance department in our Indianapolis (IN) office. The incumbent is responsible for working with communities to analyze their Water and Wastewater Department’s operational problems and assist with development of solutions. Prefer that applicants have a broad experience in dealing with all levels of government and in developing programs to provide local government assistance in addressing their environmental issues. Candidate should have the capability to 1) negotiate IDEM Agreed Orders and EPA Consent Decrees for facilities facing enforcement actions; 2) assist with the development of construction permit applications for new and existing water/wastewater treatment facilities; 3) assist clients with NPDES permit issues to include submission of permit renewals; 4) develop and administer Industrial Pretreatment Programs (at the local level), and to develop local limits and ordinances; 5) assist with the development of new Long Term Control Plans (LTCP’s for CSO communities) and with revisions to existing LTCP’s and 6) attend local meetings on a regular basis. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental Engineering or equivalent plus 10 plus years experience with regulatory issues.
