Our Vision: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

In 1980, Vince Bernardin and I decided to leave our jobs with the local metropolitan planning organization to strike out on our own. Little did we dream of the road before us.  We were driven by a desire to find new challenges and explore cutting-edge technologies, so we opened an office with a staff of five on the 6th Floor of the Hulman Building in Evansville, Indiana.
Today BLA has more than 180 employees and six offices providing a comprehensive range of services. When I look back, I marvel at how far we’ve come. While much has changed since those early days, these things are constants that define BLA:

• A planning mentality that focuses on clients’ overall goals
• The thirst for exploring cutting-edge innovation, tempered by Midwestern practicality
• Gratitude for our relationships with our clients, our employees, and our communities

It gives me great pride that those simple values we envisioned over 30 years continue to serve us well today and promise to guide us well in the future.
